Network / SAN Engineer 11-05
Position Overview
The
Network / SAN Engineer is primarily responsible for technical engineering, implementation
and support of global network and storage environments in addition to assisting
with a broad base of technologies to support global technology needs. This
includes both engineering & implementation as well as troubleshooting. The Network
/ SAN Engineer will be responsible for ensuring delivering of projects
leveraging new, current and innovative technologies to meet business needs.
In
addition the Network & SAN Engineer will be responsible for assisting in capacity
planning, disaster recovery, datacenter management, backups, documentation,
server based application support and tier 3 troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Ensure
that enterprise computing resources are available to the end users at all
times.
- Implement
enhancements & updates to ensure technology currency. Troubleshoot as
problems arise.
- Maintain
& manage existing server, network & application environments.
- Implement
new equipment. Plan and expand the enterprise systems infrastructure.
Coordinate systems capabilities with user and business needs while anticipating
future requirements of both the internal systems and end users.
- Act
as technical resource & mentor for junior staff on Infrastructure Service teams.
- Support
IT service delivery to the Acadian business units 24X7, including on call
rotation.
- Ensure
on time delivery of Infrastructure Projects & Initiatives
- Assist
in delivering successful change management and maintenance scheduling
Qualifications
Core
technologies/Skills (expertise expected):
•Cisco Networking
(LAN/WANN/Wireless/Security/Fibre)
•Storage Area Networks (EMC Clariion experience
preferred)
•Enterprise Backup technologies
•Network, Windows & Linux Security
Secondary
technologies (mastery or familiarity desired):
•VMware (VSphere)
•Scripting (Power Shell, Perl, VBS,
Python)
•Exchange 2007/2010, multi-site
experience
•RSA Technologies
•Windows 2008
•IIS/Apache
•Server hardware (HP experience
preferred)
•Red Hat 5
•Active Directory, multi-site
experience
•Microsoft SQL Server (2005/2008)
•Microsoft Sharepoint (2010)
•Enterprise Search technology
Certifications:
•CISCO certification preferred.
•EMC Storage Certifications a
plus
•VMWare VCP is a plus
•MSCE is a plus
This
person must have a strong IT Operations and engineering background with at
least 5 years of experience, preferably in a buy side financial services
organization
The
ability to spot problematic areas, analyze solutions, propose resolutions and
direct their implementation is essential. Candidates must have a strong
technical background, strong written and oral communication skills, project
management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a
team environment. A successful candidate is a motivated self-starter with an
aptitude for learning new skills and environments quickly while multi-tasking
on more than one deliverable.
