Data Architect (Financial)
Overall Summary:
As a senior member of
the Enterprise Information Management technical team, the Data Architect will
be responsible for business and systems analysis, design, construction, testing
and implementation of data and information management solutions.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise and development
responsibility in the areas of knowledge management and business
intelligence initiatives, to support the primary business of the company,
distribution of financial products
- Participate in meetings with business users to define
business rules specific to our information architecture
- Provide technical guidance in maintaining the accuracy
and integrity of data
- Responsible for system analysis, design, coding, testing,
and documentation
- Performs feasibility studies to analyze cost/benefit
trade-off of systems solutions, specifically where solutions should be
purchased off-the-shelf or developed based upon time to market,
considering functionality that could provide competitive edge
- Contributes to the work of team through evaluation of
other systems and programming.
- Support of nightly batch production cycles, which
requires periodic on call responsibility
Experience/Skills
Required:
- Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years IT experience, preferably in financial
services, in continuous increase in level of responsibility
- Desire to work in fast-paced delivery-focused
environment
- Strong business, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Ability frame solutions quickly
- Team player
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Independent, self-starter requiring little supervision
to complete tasks
- Proactive in foreseeing potential technical problems
and mitigating risk
Technical/Analytical
Skills Required:
- Experience in database design, data modeling and data
warehousing, including supporting tools ERWIN or competing data modeling
and design tools
- Familiarity with most of the following technologies:
CRM, J2EE, .Net, Web Services, Knowledge Management Tools, ETL Tools
- Advanced SQL
- Complete understanding of all phases of the development
lifecycle and development methodologies
- Ability to assume responsibility of any methodology
phase
